How to Install Low Voltage Landscaping Lighting

You may be thinking “Oh I how I would love to have some great landscape lighting, but I don’t even know where to start or how to go about installing the lighting.”

Well we at Lighting Doctor have released an excellent video on “How to Install Low Voltage Landscape Lighting”. In this post I will give you a quick outline on the process, but I recommend checking out the video for yourself. I will include a link at the end of this post.

Step 1

Determining what type of lighting you are going to use. There are many different types of lighting out there and many times the best look will come from the use of a couple different types lighting in your space. A great way to determine what will look best is to go out with a flashlight that has an adjustable beam. By shining it on your yards different features, trying different angles, you will see what loo

Step 2

Assembling the lights that you have purchased. We recommend going with a high-quality light and retro fitting that fixture with a LED bulb. This way you’ll get the benefits of an LED fixture at a fraction of the price.

Step 3

Place the lights where you want them to go.

Step 4

Lay out all the wiring from the transformer to the lights. We recommend making a small loop at the light end with the wire. This will allow you to move the lights as need with out having to re-wire.

Step 5

Bringing your wiring to the transformer. You will want to place your transformer close to your electrical receptacle.

Step 6

Time to go out and make your final adjustments. The best time to do this is at night. That way you can really see how the lights are going to work, shadowing and how the flow all works together.

Step 7

Burying all the wires.

After all this its finally time to sit back and enjoy your beautiful outdoor living space!
